10 day Vipassana Meditation Course

Hello!

I have started my path in CFM teacher training and wanted to know if this 10 Day Vipassana Meditation course could be used to account for two of the 5 day silent retreats? This retreat is local, affordable, and would offer me the opportunity to take less days off of work to fulfill 2 out the 4 retreat requirements for CFM MBSR Teacher Certification.

Description:
10-day Courses are an introductory course to Vipassana Meditation where the technique is taught step-by-step each day. The courses begin after a 2 - 4 pm registration period and orientation, followed by 10 full days of meditation, and end the morning of the 11th day by 7:30 am.

Thanks so much!!

Hi Julia,

Thanks for checking in about this.

The real spirit of the requirement is that trainees participate in four
retreats, of a minimum of 5 days each, over the duration of their Oasis
training process. So although this one is 10 days, it doesn’t count as 2
retreats. If you’d like to take this retreat, it will qualify as one of
your 4 retreats, but not 2.

I do understand and appreciate your financial and time constraints, but
again, part of the idea of having 4 retreats across the duration of the
training is to repeat the retreat experience 4 times, over time. It’s
because that tends to offer a significant deepening effect in the
understanding of practice, which can’t occur in quite the same way if it’s
smooshed all together.

It’s really the same reasoning that causes us to ask folks not to rush
through the Oasis training itself, but to make time for a maturation
process. Make sense?

Kindly,
Eowyn

Hi Eowyn- Absolutely! I appreciate you getting back to me so fast.

Thank you!
Julia
