Feeling bored and hard breathing while body scan

Hi to all,
I’m newly taking the Online MBSR course (first session) and i’m facing an issue. While i’m doing body scan, i sometimes feel bored and have like a weight on my chest that makes breahi,g quite hard, so i lose focus. To push away this sensation i have to breath loudly and strongly . The sensation goes away for a couple minutes and then comes back.
What do you think about this ? Have you any advice? or may be i have to go across this phase cause it’s natural?
Sorry for my awful english :)
Thanks in advance for your answers!
cheers,

Hello Soufiane,
This is a great question!

I can tell you, from my own experience over many decades of practice, it is normal to experience boredom and discomfort during a body scan, all sorts of experiences arise.

Rather than trying to push particular experiences away and engaging in a struggle to try to change things, you might simply bring curiosity to whatever happens to be there, just as it is, from moment to moment.

The body scan is not about changing any sensations or feelings but simply being aware, sensing whatever sensations are present with openness.

And it sounds like you are becoming aware too of not liking certain sensations, preferring or wanting to experience other sensations. This is normal and there is no need to engage in any struggle, struggling is adding an unnecessary element.

All that is here can be very simply known. And you are doing a great job of knowing all these things. This is just right!

Please share what you discover as you continue to practice…
Warmly,
Gail
