Mindfulness Retreat: Cultivating a Mindful Life
Presenter: Michael Grady
Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9:00am-3:00pm
Washburn Auditorium (lower level), Brattle Campus (10 Phillips Place, Cambridge)
*Event is free and open to the public; optional 2.5 CE Hours for LMHC’s and NCC’s are available for $15 (to be paid that day)
· This free workshop is open to the public and includes meditation instructions, sitting and walking practice, group discussion, and a talk. Chairs will line the perimeter of the room, or you may bring a yoga/meditation mat and sit on the floor. There will be a designated silent area for individuals who are interested in eating their lunch mindfully; you may bring your own lunch or purchase lunch at the Brattle Café. Please note that this will be a rare, powerful, and potentially illuminating and healing opportunity to experience your “analog self," as we will not be checking cell phones or computers for the duration of the retreat. Michael Grady has been teaching mindfulness practice and insight meditation for more than 20 years. He is currently a Core Teacher at the Insight Meditation Society, a residential retreat center in Barre, MA, and teaches at other retreat centers around the country. He was a Guiding Teacher at the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center for many years, during which he developed his signature workshop on working mindfully with fear. Michael began practicing meditation in 1974, when insight meditation was first introduced to the U.S by Joseph Goldstein and Sharon Salzberg. Michael also holds an MS degree in Sociology from Brandeis University.
