Hi, I’m interested in teaching MBSR or MBCT to people with PTSD. I am an elementary school adjustment counselor and would like to open a “practice” during the summer months or after school hours (Is this even possible?). Is being a qualified teacher sufficient or is teacher certification necessary? Do I need to follow the 8 week 2.5 hour session? Any info, insight, or advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you

Hi, Aaron. Teaching MBSR is different than teaching MBCT, one must be a licensed therapist to teach MBCT for example. And the programs are very specific in what is required for a program to meet the standards to be considered MBSR or MBCT.
You may want to read through our Teacher Education process to learn more about becoming an MBSR teacher as a starting point: http://www.umassmed.edu/cfm/training/MBSR-Teacher-Education/
Great, thank you! I appreciate your time.
