With the increased pace and often conflicting demands of practicing medicine, health care professionals are increasingly subject to the effects of internal and external stress. Mounting evidence shows that mindfulness practice can reduce job burnout, anxiety, depression and stress, improve focus and empathy, and increase the wellbeing of practitioner and patient alike.
This workshop will provide:
- A clear conceptual framework of mindfulness skills and practice
- Discussion of current evidence and proposed mechanisms for the
therapeutic effects of mindfulness - Techniques for developing one’s own mindfulness practice to reduce
stress and prevent burnout - Techniques for applying mindfulness in the clinical setting,
including mindfulness-based interventions for use with patients - Ample time to practice mindfulness and to engage in dialogue
regarding personal experience.
Tuition is $60 and includes breakfast.
