CHA staff, please email us at cmc@challiance.org to inquire about staff discounts We invite graduates of the 8-Week Courses at the CHA Center for Mindfulness & Compassion to a half-day workshop with Elyse Simon, MA and Cecilia Fernandez-Hall, Ph.D. This is the first in what we hope to be a series of “Deepening Your Practice” opportunities for individuals who have taken mindfulness and compassion-based courses at CMC This half-day experience is an experiential workshop on mindfulness and compassion, adapted from the Mindful Self-Compassion program developed by Chris Germer, Ph.D. and Kristin Neff, Ph.D. The combined skills of mindfulness and compassion provide powerful tools for emotional resilience. Mindfulness is an important first step in emotional healing—being able to turn toward and acknowledge our difficult experiences and with a spirit of openness and curiosity. Compassion involves responding to these difficult thoughts and feelings with kindness and acceptance, with an understanding of the common humanity in our experience.

Participants of both MBSR, MSC and MTPC have experienced measured reductions in stress, anxiety, and increased compassion towards self and others. This workshop is offered as a way for 8-week course completers to re-commit to, and strengthen their practice. In this workshop we will cultivate habits of mindfulness and compassion to foster caring connections with ourselves and others. You will learn foundational practices for responding to life’s struggles with awareness, kindness, and compassion. This is also an opportunity to take time for yourself: a time to seek stillness as a way to nourish and renew your mind, body, and practice.

The workshop will include:
Short talks, meditation, interactive and experiential exercises and brief group discussions

Who should attend this workshop?
For anyone who has participated in any of the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion 8-week courses, including Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Mindfulness Training for Primary Care (MTPC), this is an opportunity to cultivate compassionate care for yourself and others
