Announcing a new 8-week course in Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)
Beginning May 18 in Northampton, MA
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically-supported, 8-week, training program designed to cultivate the skills and experience of self-compassion.
Based on the research of Kristin Neff, PhD, and the clinical experience of Christopher Germer, PhD, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to challenging and difficult moments with awareness, kindness, and understanding.
MSC combines the skills and practices of mindfulness and self-compassion, providing a powerful approach for cultivating emotional resilience.
In MSC, we learn and explore:
• mindfulness and self-compassion practices for home and everyday life;
• how to stop being so hard on oneself;
• how to handle difficult emotions with greater ease;
• how to motivate oneself with encouragement rather than criticism;
• how to transform difficult relationships, both old and new;
• how to become one’s own best teacher.
The MSC course includes a variety of formal and informal practices, inquiry, and discussion. A wide range of home practices are offered, including several guided meditation recordings. Participants choose the home practices that seem to fit best in their lives.
