Next Step? How to apply for the MBSR program?

Hello…I am confused by this new format in understanding the steps and how to register for the MBSR program, so would be very thankful for some clarification.

I have done the 8 week online course plus the 5 day mindfulness tools course at Omega Institute. I will also be attending a 10 day silent retreat next week.

What is the next step? Do I apply for the program now? If so, would you please send me a link for this, I have looked and can’t seem to find it.

Also, I don’t have an educational background (am not a working professional) but still would like to apply for the program and understand that I have to fill out a form in how my life experience gives me an understanding. I am a stay at home Mom and my goal is to use this course to help facilitate mindfulness with kids.
Is there a specific form I fill out for this? If so, could you please send me the link for this as well?
Would I be considered even if I don’t have a educational background professional job? I believe raising my child has given me more life experience than any job could.

And previously you had a step by step format to follow that sensed to make a lot of sense to me and was easy to understand. Is there something similar that I can’t seem to find with this new format?

Thank you very much for your time.

Hi Preet,

Thanks for your inquiry.

Once you have completed the 10 day retreat, the next step is to apply to
take MBSR Fundamentals, which used to be called the Practicum. There’s an
8-week format, which happens here at the CFM, and a 9 day format, intended
for those who live far away from CFM. If possible I recommend the 8-week.
Either way, you could put in your application any time, stating the dates
of your upcoming retreat. Here is the registration page:

We do not require that you be working. We do prefer that MBSR teacher
certification candidates have a masters degree in a related field, but we
invite those who do not to make a case for how their life experience is
equivalent to a degree at the time of the certification review process, but
not before then. Also, you only need to be qualified, not fully certified,
to begin teaching.Take a look here at the Oasis FAQs, which I think will
clarify these questions for you:

And, drop a line again if you have further questions.

Kindly,
Eowyn

Hello Eowyn,

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

I would love to do the 8 week format, but live in Canada with a family, school and work so that makes it hard to do right now.

Just so I am clear, once I finish the 10 day silent retreat, I will look to do/register for the 9 day format for the MBSR Fundamentals and then I put in my application?

I did look at first the link you sent below and there seemed to be a few things you didn’t have an option to select even though they had a red asterisk symbol beside them indicating they require a response.
I am guessing I would initially select ‘mindful based program’ and then MBSR for the second selection (program).
After that, there is no option to select anything for the four following questions. Just says ‘select’ for session type, session date, waitlist dates and orientation dates with no other options.
Is there a reason for this?

I am working on getting my arts associate degree currently and then may apply to get into a bachelors of psychology program, so am working on my education, but also would like to work on MBSR in conjunction as I think it’s essential to my life and well being.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

Hi Again,

I see that the 9 day format for the fundamentals course is being offered in Canada in January. Do you know where that is? And when will other information for this specific course become available? In terms of times, location and how to register?
How do I make sure I will get a notice of this so I am not too late to register once it becomes available?
I already subs dive to cfmHome digest which comes once a month maybe.

Thank you.

Warmly,
Preet

Hi Eowyn,

Another question. Thank you for your continued help and patience.

Does this particular retreat meet and satisfy the requirements for a 5 day teacher led silent mediation retreat?
http://cloudmountain.org/

Cloud Mountain Retreat Center? The dates work better for my schedule. I didn’t see it on the list but it seemed to have a lot of the requirements. But I wanted to be sure before I paid and registered.

Thanks Again,
Preet

Hi Preet, Yes, it meets the criteria. Kindly, Eowyn
