I will be teaching my 3 “Tastes of Mindfulness” at a yoga studio here. They have asked me to get “Yoga Teacher Insurance”. MBSR obviously has some gentle yoga involved, but needing insurance to teach seems a bit extreme to me. Has this issue come up for other MBSR teachers?

My guess is this about protecting themselves, not so much what we teach. My experience is that certain facilities, including the yoga studio I used to teach at, require this. I found an inexpensive policy thru Philly Ins Co. that so far has satisfied all the places that have asked me for this – Medical Center, Medical Schools, Fitness Centers, Cancer Centers and others

Yes, I teach at a hospital and I have to be insured. The accepted the Yoga insurance. I know many others who use the same!

Yes very good idea to get insurance. Meditation instructor falls under yoga instructor at Philadelphia insurance, only about $150/year.
