Mindfulness Program for Elementary School Teachers

Hello, I am teaching a Mindfulness Program loosely based on the MBSR course. We will be meeting for 1 hour for 5 weeks. They will have the option to attend a silent all day retreat with the MBSR group that I am teaching. I am trying to connect with my intention and gather information about what is important to them to inform the teaching. I am wondering how confidentiality will play out as well considering the course is offered within their professional space.

Any comments or support is well appreciated.

Let me preface this by saying I am teaching the course for free to teachers in my children’s school as an offering, a giving back.
I am looking forward to sharing and being a part of this community.
Today I begin teaching MBSR as well.
Big, beautiful week!!

Wonderful to hear about your mindfulness program, Danna, and wishing you
well with your first MBSR class also.

It is interesting to teach groups who work together, since they know each
other and have relationships that wouldn’t be present in another kind of
class. Perhaps, in the first session when you discuss confidentiality, it
will help to also emphasize that mindfulness provides an opportunity to
meet each other in the present moment, simply as fellow human beings, and
with a beginner’s mind.

Congratulations ~ what a lovely offering. May you and your students be blessed in your journey, If you have not already done so, I recommend Dr. Amy Saltzman’s Still Quiet Place teacher training. I participated live, and she has also since published her Still Quiet Place curriculum, based on Mbsr. A physician, Amy has a wise sense of working with public schools through her work in CA public school and community settings. As a former public school teacher, I valued her wisdom in navigating the secular sensibilities and requirements for working in a public school. For example, I purchased tuning forks and a chime to use in place of the Tibetan singing bowls I use in personal and private practice settings. Best wishes! ~ Melinda

Hi Danna
Im a researcher looking to gather some very brief data on school teachers who have taken MBSR. This is a link to a 2 minute survey, http://bit.ly/1P6rOvt would you mind sharing? The data will help understand the importance and usefulness of mindfulness for managing teacher stress.

Thanks a million!
