Rideshare/Roomshare: 9 Day Practicum in MBSR - Omega/Shrewsbury - July 17- 26, 2016 Public Forum

Hello! As requested by Jacqueline, here is a topic where we can share info about the NY/MA Practicum. I will be attending and I will need a ride from Omega to Shrewsbury. I am happy to pay for gas and other road needs.
Looking forward to chatting with others who will be attending this Practicum!
All the best,
Gretchen

I would also like to share a ride. I plan on flying into NY on Friday and would love to connect to ride to Omega. I then would like to share to Shrewsbery and on to Logan airport at conclusion.

I’m also looking to share a ride to Omega, and happy to contribute to gas.

Hope to connect with someone!

I also need a ride from Omega to Shrewbury and am happy to help with gas etc too. Thanks Heidi

I looked at alternatives if rides don’t work out: there is a train from Albany to Worcester, Mass (15 minutes from Shrewsbury) at 3:05 that afternoon - there’s a cab company that goes from Rhinebeck to Albany for $120, so if need be, some of us could split that cab and take the train. Not ideal, but possible.

Hi everyone , I am also leaving from NYC to go to Omega and then transfer to Mass. Given the numbers here does anyone know of a shuttle company we could use?

This is quite complicated. Was thinking I could fly into shrewsbury the morning of but looks like I will have to fly in the day before. Is anyone flying or driving from Albany to omega? Happy to pay expenses. I’m also a bit confused as to tuition. It appears that omega charges 600 or so for tuition for the first five days and then omega charges 2000 dollars tuition for four days. Is this correct? Thanks. Andy

Not omega. Cml in mass.

Hi Andrew, Yes they are effectively 2 courses…I had to do a separate 5 day mindfulness tools and it was $600 tuition. The practicum at CFM is in addition. Hope that makes sense Andrew

Hi Andrew, I just emailed Northeast Shuttle to ask for a quote from Rhinebeck to Shrewsbury, I’ll let folks know what they say. I’m planning to take Amtrak from NYC to Rhinecliff for the first leg, and probably train from Worcester to NYC to come home.

A rental of a Toyota 4 runner one way is 182 total that would fit four. I wonder how many people will be commuting to cfm who do not have transportation. Would it be possible to arrange a small bus?

OK, I emailed Northeast Shuttle and CCAR Services for quotes for a shuttle bus from Rhinebeck to Shrewsbury – if anyone sees any other shuttle services and wants to get quotes, we can compare notes here. I’ll let you know all what I come up with.

Great work Gretchen. I will take the train from Penn station to Rhinecliff on the 17th…there is one that arrives at 10am. Also we can train it from Rhinecliff to Albany and then onto Worchester… there is a 1300 train on the 22nd which will allow us to connect to the 1505 service to Worchester arriving at 1845 … grand total of $41 … happy to split cab fare to the Rhinecliff station or we can organize a van if there is interest. Andrew

Good eye, Andrew - I had missed the fact that trains run from Rhinecliff to Albany, and the timing you picked seems great. I’m game to do the train, we’ll just have to figure out cabs on the Rhinecliff end and the Worcester end, but that shouldn’t be too bad.
All that said, I’ll let folks know what the shuttle companies quote.
Something tells me that the program set it up this way on purpose as our first homework assignment: collaborate mindfully on a multi-leg, multi-method adventure. :)

Hi Andrew,

I noticed your username, could this mean you are flying over from Australia too?
I am in Perth… Tas

HI Gretchen, I am Tas. Looks like I might follow you, if that is OK…I will be arriving in NYC on the 16th - when were you planning on leaving NYC for Omega? Tas

Hi Tas, I am American. When I picked a username, I didn’t think to use your actual name. Lol. Aussie is my boxers name. Maybe I can change that. You are traveling quite the distance. Hopefully I will see you in NY.
Best

Andy

Thanks, Andrew! Do you mean the train from Rhinecliff to Worcester is $41. total for the fare?

I’m game for splitting cab fares/van to and from Omega/Rhinecliff on the 17th and 22nd.

Thanks for checking the shuttle companies, Gretchen! With enough of us, perhaps it can work and we can take 1 mode of transport instead of 3 :)

Hi Andrew,

Haha!! I would leave the name, adds an element of mystery :). I suppose I see the word so often around here - I tend to think it only refers to us!

It will be a big trip, but will be worth it, I think! Look forward to meeting you too.
