Hi Tas – I haven’t located a cab company yet for the trip from Rhinecliff train station to Omega, but I’ll work on it – I bet they can take four of us, but if not, you guys can go as 3 and I’ll start another cab, no problem.
Tas, Brittany, and David: I reserved a cab to pick us up at the Rhinecliff station from the Amtrak train that gets in at 11:58am to go to Omega. It holds 4 people so we’re all set. It’s $30 total for the four of us, so we can split the fare.
This is the company I called in case others are looking for cabs from the train station – they take reservations over the phone: http://www.redhookrhinebecktaxi.com/
Hi Tas there are 2 train options. Early train at 815 arriving at 10 am and later train leaving around 1030 and arriving at 12. I plan to catch the 815 and some of the others the 1020. I dont want to cut my arrival too fine as they would like us there no later than 1230 and the transfer from the train station takes 20 minutes…welcome to join me if you wish Andrew Cz
Okay, Heads up for those yet to book the accomodation at Worchester. I called today and the group booking allocation is all gone. I had to reserve a kingsuite and so have a spare sofa bed for anyone without accomodation . The room has its own kitchen and a dining area. $100USD per night towards the room. First to bank transfer the funds gets the bed as I had to pay upfront to secure the price I got. Kind Regards Andrew Cz
Hi Andrew,
Thank you for the info! I assume you are referring to the train from Penn Station leaving at 8.15am? Do you land at JFK on the 17th, like myself? Tas
Hi Gretchen, thank you ! - … I am still not sure what time I will be at Rhinecliff but will let you know !
Tas
Yes Tas thats the train from Penn station. I just hopped onto the Amtrak website to book a ticket. Im arriving on the 15th in the evening and having a day in NYC before travelling to Omega. Andrew Cz
Hmm. I wonder if they will make more rooms available. I’ll give them a call.
I was thinking an uber might be available but perhaps that’s too presumptuous. I’ll reserve a second cab if anyone would like to join me. Andrew huchingson
Jackie said one of the program managers is looking into it - I imagine that they just need to expand the room block. I’ll post here if I hear anything.
There’s no uber up there in the boonies, it seems :)
Ah. I’ve become too attached to the service. Lol. Thanks Gretchen.
Can anyone comment on transportation between the hotel and the CFM? Looks like it’s about 3 miles.
And I’m guessing the $240 we have to pay only covers lunch and snacks and we’d be on our own for securing breakfast and dinners?
FYI - I just booked a studio room for $145 at the hotel (the UMASS rate). They said that rate will probably go up as more people call and book
Aaron, I’m 99% certain all meals are provided. I’ve been to three mbsr trainings and all meals have been included. Hope this helps. Andrew h
Good call, Aaron! I booked mine at the UMASS rate just now too. If they do open up more rooms in the block, they said I can swap it into the block. And there’s breakfast at the hotel so it’s just dinner up for debate now.
I swear there’s a joke in here somewhere: how many aspiring mindfulness teachers does it take to win The Amazing Race?
Yes, I still need a ride. Please send the shuttle information. Thank you
Christine
Gretchen, I too am looking for a ride. Is a shuttle possible?
Regards,
Christine
Hi Christine – The first shuttle that I booked
(I’m calling it Shuttle A) from Omega to Worcester is full at 10
people, but if one of you wants to start a second shuttle group, I can
give you the company that I’ve been talking to and you can start another
group. However, Jackie from CFM told me that they typically book a 30
person shuttle but they have not organized it yet.
I guess I would like to get on the 30 person shuttle. How do I get into touch with Jackie? I very much appreciate your help with this…Thank You!
Christine
