Using 529 Plan Savings for MBSR Teacher Training?

Hi there,

I’m wondering if the MBSR Teacher Training is eligible to use 529 (higher-ed savings plan) funds to pay for it? Does anyone have any experience with this or knowledge of it?

I know that OASIS is under the umbrella of UMass Med School which is definitely an eligible institution, but I’m not sure whether this program will qualify or not. OASIS admins, do you know if anyone has done this before?

Hi, Daniel,

I’m not a tax accountant or financial services professional. You’d be best served by checking with one of those folks on the answer to your question. I can tell you that taking Oasis pathway teacher training courses does not enroll you on either a full- or part-time basis in an institution of post-secondary education. My understanding is that this is one of the requirements for eligibility for 529 Plan expenses.
